1. Introduction

The Foreign Literature and Culture Research Team was established in 2021 on the basis of the original Research Team of British-American Literature and Culture. With the down-to-earth, hardworking and innovative spirit, the research team has absorbed new members and expanded its research field with a particular focus on foreign literature and culture, and foreign literary works criticism and cultural criticism as the main research objects. Its research field covers western literary theory, Shakespeare’s plays, women’s writing, Chinese American literature, comparative literature, Russian religious philosophy, ancient Greek and Roman culture, and biblical culture. With Dr. Fan Qianrong as the team leader, the team includes other researchers such as Huang Chi, Hu Ying, An Liya, Wang Dongmei, Chen Dan, Deng Daojun, Wang Qiaoli, Zhou Jie, Chen Guilin, Li Xugang, Yuan Ziying, Yu Shouhua, Xu Ting, Chang Meiling, etc.

2. Team leader

Dr. Fan Qianrong, lecturer, earned her undergraduate degree from Beijing International Studies University, pursued further studies in the field of Soviet Hot Literature with Professor Zhao Guilian from Peking University, and got a PhD degree in Comparative Literature and World Literature from Nankai University. With her research interest in Bakhtin’s literary theories and Russian Religious Philosophy, she studied with Professor Wang Zhigeng, a selectee supported by the Program of New Century Excellent Talents and Vice President of China Russian Literature Research Association. From 2016 to 2019, she was engaged in the National Social Science Foundation key project “Bakhtin’s Literary Thought in the Context of Russian National Culture” presided over by Professor Wang Zhigeng. The project was completed in March 2019 and got an A. In 2021, Dr. Fan led a project funded by CUIT, “Research on Russian Body Concept and Its Evolution”, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2024. Besides, she has published three academic papers, one of which was published in CSSCI.

3. Team Achievements

In recent years, the team has undertaken a number of projects sponsored by Sichuan Social Science Associations and Sichuan Provincial Education Department, including “Artistic Value and Aesthetic Discussion of British and American Women’s Literature”, “Ideological and Political Research of American Literature Curriculum in the Context of New Liberal Arts” and “Ideological and Political Construction of English Literature Culture Curriculum in the Context of New Liberal Rrts”. A dozen of monographs and translated works have been published, including Research on Publicity Translation in the Perspective of Cross-Cultural Communication, Artistic Value and Aesthetic Discussion of British and American Women’s Literature, English Methodology: Theory and Practice, etc. A number of academic papers have been published in A&HCI, CSSCI, and National Core Journals, including Comparative Literature and Culture, Linguistics and Literature Studies, Universal Journal of Educational Research, Sociology and Anthropology, Foreign Literature Studies, Foreign Languages and Literature, Fudan Forum on Foreign Languages and Literature, Journal of Hunan Normal University, Journal of Shenzhen University, Cultural Studies and Literary Theory, Journal of Shanghai University, Journal of the Chinese Society of Education, Journal of Modern Life Writing Studies, etc.
