1. Introduction
As one of the key academic research teams of the School of Foreign Languages at CUIT, the Research Team of Linguistics and Applied Linguistics, led by Professor Li Weibin, consists of associate professors and lecturers who dedicate their work to applied linguistics, translation studies, and language service. Over recent years the research team has mainly been concerned with language teaching, teacher training, university-industry collaboration, and social services.

Professor Li has long been devoted to translation research and practice, undertaking key translation projects such as the Chinese Classics Publishing Project, and projects from the National Publication Foundation, the Publicity Department of the Central Committee, and China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration. He published twelve translation works, including Mao Zedong's Traditional Family Virtues, Governance of a Big Country: The Wisdom of Ancient China, A Man of Faith: Lei Feng, and Chinese Film History, etc., Published more than thirty academic papers, including twenty in Peking University CORE journals. He also presided over twenty research projects at provincial and ministerial level, among which "Construction of a Bilingual Parallel Corpus and Platform for Xi Jinping's Discourse System" won the third prize of Sichuan Provincial People's Government.
3. Academic Achievements of the Research Team
The research team has published more than 20 monographs and translated works. The monographs include Research on College Students’ English Writing Ability Development in Sichuan Province, A Guide to the Standardization of English Translation of Tourist Signs in Sichuan Province, and Practical English Writing; the translated works are The Theory of Market Representation, China’s Pension Security System, Moving Boxes by Air: the Economics of International Air Cargo, Mao Zedong’s Traditional Family Virtues, A Man of Faith: Lei Feng, Chinese Film History, The Development of China’s Metropolitan Areas, China’s Qinghai, Governance of a Big Country: the Wisdom of Ancient China, Theory and Practice of China’s Intellectual Property Administration, China Speed: Development of China’s High-Speed Rail, Nantong: a Vibrant City by the Sea and River, Green Transformation in China, etc. Funded of over 2 million yuan by Science and Technology Department of Sichuan Province and Sichuan Federation of Social Science Associations, the research team has undertaken 15 provincial and ministerial projects, including “Construction of a Bilingual Corpus and Platform of Public Signs in Sichuan Province” and “Construction of a Bilingual Parallel Corpus and Platform of Xi Jinping’s Discourse System”. Additionally, the team members have won many awards in teaching competitions at all levels and their achievements have won the Sichuan Social Science Outstanding Achievement Award.
